Yes, it certainly is a good place to start. That's just the sort of information we need...
Just to clarify:
-- William Henry HILL Jr. was born in Birmingham, Warwickshire about 1867
-- William's father, William Henry HILL Sr., was born in Lancaster, Lancashire, [probably in the 1830s or early 40s]
-- William Sr. married Phoebe EVANS
-- William Sr. was a gunsmith
I think the following must be your HILL household in the 1871 census:
1871 Census: RG10/3157 Folio 75 Page 7
Address: Tower Road, Aston, Warwickshire
William H. HILL Head Mar 30 Gun Maker [born] Birmingham Warwickshire
Phobe [sic] do Wife Mar 29 [born] Do do
Isabella do Daugh 9 Scholar [born] Do do
Floret HILL Daughter 9 Scholar [born] Aston Birmingham W.shire
Phoebe Do do 6 do [born] Aston Do
William Hy Do Son 4 do [born] Aston Do
Amy Do Daughter 2 [born] Aston Do
Ada Emma Do do 6 weeks [born] Aston Do
Don't be too concerned that William Sr.'s birthplace is shown as Birmingham. The other bits [middle initial, occupation, wife's name and son's given names and age] all line up so well that I think this is a pretty sure match. I'll see if I can find them in any other census... Stay tuned!

Margaret,
There's a very good possibility that this is your William Sr. in 1861:
1961 Census: RG9/2177 Folio 119 Page 5
Address: 23 Aston Rd. Aston, Warwickshire
Theophilus HARRISON Head Mar 67 Victualler [born] Warwicks Birmhm
Sarah " Wife " 60 [born] " "
Sarah HILL Step Daur Unm 34 [born] " "
Isabella " Do " [i.e., Step Daur] Unm 28 Bar Maid [born] " "
William H HILL " Son [i.e., Step Son] Unm 21 Gun Purcuthioner* [born] " "
*this looks like the correct spelling but I have no idea what the word means!
Let's see if they're around in 1851...

1851...
1851 Census: HO107/2058 Folio 422 Page 37
Address: 1 Bond St., Birmingham St George, Warwickshire
Thophilus HARRISON Head Mar 57 Publican [born] Warwicke Aston
Sarah do Wife M 47 [born] Do Do
Emma HILL Dau in Law U 21 [born] Do Do
Adelaide Do Do U 19 [born] Do Do
Isabella Do U 17 [born] Do Do
?Markheall Do Son in Law U 16 Thermometer Maker [born] Do Do
Luke Do Do U 13 Powder Flask Maker [born] Do Do
William Do Do U 10 Scholar [born] Do Do
I really can't figure out what the 16 year old's first name is -- it doesn't quite look like Marshall or anything else I can think of.
FYI: "in law" was often used to describe a stepson or step daughter

Margaret,
I hope all that census information is "news" for your uncle.
Unfortunately, I don't have access to the 1841 census to find out if William Sr's father was with the family at that time.
If I were you, I would post another request asking for an 1841 lookup for Sarah HILL and children [giving all their names, birth years and places -- or simply referencing the 1851 census family]. Odds are good that William's father was alive in 1841 [presuming, of course, that Sarah was a widow when she married Mr. HARRISON].
BTW, sadly, there's a death record in the FreeBMD for a Floret HILL, 8 years old, in the March quarter of 1872 in Aston Warwickshire [Reference: Volume 6d Page 197].
Regards,
Trish
Good luck!
