Please could a kind reader who has access to the 1841/1851 census for Hemel Hempstead please look up the above mentioned James Twitchell. All we know is he was born C1830 in Hemel and married in 1851, also in Hemel.
I would like to confirm his parents and/or siblings if possible. As it is a fairly unusual name could you see if there are any other Twitchell hiding in the Hemel area aswell.
Any information will be greatfully received.

I don't know if the name is that unusual as even with that spelling, there are 286 people with that name in the 1901 census!!!
(As opposed to 156 in the same census for the name I am following - Croxon.)
There are always more than you suspect, in my experience!

James Twitchell 1841
Hello, thanks for your reply. There were far more Twitchell's in 1901 than in 1941 as they seemed to have very large families and most of the children survived. The only ones I need seemed to stay in the Hemel Hempstead area.
Could you find James Twitchell in 1841? aged about 11.
Many thanks

Croxon is an old English word for bend in creek or something similar there are two many family lines I have found one originally from Essex the other from Cambridge. They have travelled all over the world usually large family and plenty of money unfortunately large families I married my Croxon nearly 24 years ago. Maree, you might like to ask one of the Moderators to "amend" your email address because with it written down in full here you're just inviting spam
