I’ve ordered the proper birth certificate and received the electronic copy. Again the mother is listed as Elizabeth Sumner. So it must be the Elizabeth born 1835. The rest of those relatives seem to...
I think we have a winner.
If Iíve got the wrong birth certificate, Elizabeth may not be his motherís name at all.
Remember, the point I am stuck at is before the 1871 census.
I can connect all the names and birthdates...
This lead is promising. I know my grandparents (John and Margaret Sumner) lived in Upholland at one point.
I will buy that certificate and see if it produces fruit. Thank you.

Iíve never been there, so I do not know the lay of...
Signature, description and residence of informant:

Frederic (no k) Sumner
Registration district: Bolton
Birth in sub district of: Bolton East in county of Lancaster
Signature of registrar: John S Scowcroft (I think)
I agree that that age seems off.
Things I’m sure of, the Frederick living with his uncle in the 1881 census is my great grandfather. I ordered his birth certificate and his mother was Elizabeth...

It lists Elizabeth as 8 years. Her father William is listed as...
