Here is an update on the elusive Barge family.
I recently found a second marriage for William Barge soon after the death of his first wife Frances. He married 17 year old Emma Jane Jones,...
I just had to let everyone know that it is worth persevering, even after all this time.
I have just found the death entry for Richard James Hazelwood b 1825, died 1904 in Rutherglen,...
Thanks for your reply.
The family aren't direct relatives so it doesn't warrant buying a certificate.
I don't understand
"For 1861 census Hannah was born in Newport" could you please explain a...
Thanks for all the info I have found the children's births registered in Dudley district but I can only assume that, for some reason, they have been missed off the census.
Thank you, I think I have found Mary, now a widow, still living at Edgmond in 1861 but still no sign of Benjamin.
Thank you for that, it was the 1861 I was looking for but the 1841 & 51 would also be great.
Benjamin is a labourer, I don't know where the parents were born as I am working backwards from their shipping records.
I have been looking for the following people on the 1861 census but have had no luck
Benjamin Fox b 1820-1835
Annie his wife b c 1834
Children James 1856

Marie Cabot/Smith appears to stay on Jersey and appears in the 1851 – 1881 census entries.
I haven’t been able to find Richard Hartley Smith anywhere after 1841. As for the children, the only one...

I too have a Butt ancestor who landed in NZ (William Butt) & I have the following info.
Richard Hartley Smith & Marie Cabot also had the following children all christened St Hellier,...
Edward Lee’s ‘wife’ Amelia in 1901 appears to be the Amelia Brown, daughter of Charity Brown in 1871. I can’t find them in any other census records.
In 1891 Amelia’s daughter Mary Ann is aged 25 -...
Lavinia Lee GRO ref 1910 Dover Vol 2a page 1055 mmn Brown
I think the youngest daughter is Lavinia Lee according to the GRO website she was born 1910, Dover - mother's maiden name Brown the same as Stephen's.
Sorry I should have said that Edward & 13 year old Ernest are in Lenham in 1901 !!!!
Ok, you probably have this –
Ernest gives his address as Beach Villas, Sea St, Herne Bay on his military record.
His family isn’t there in 1911 but another Lee family is - Edward a grinder of...
What age does it say on her marriage certificate ?
Do you have a year & place of birth for Annie's mother Betsey ?
Have you found Annie in the 1911 census records ?
I still favour the Eliza in post #12 with grandfather Henry.
I have tried but cannot find the birth reg. of this Eliza which makes me think she may be illegitimate.
