An Ebenezer Wright married a Mary Clare, Woburn, 1 Feb 1785 - a strong pointer to the 1824 Woburn baptism relating to an 1789 Woburn birth?

Thanks for confirming that WW, schoolmaster is your man. I'd been considering the angle that the 1824 baptism in Woburn didn't necessarily point to the birth being there also (1789). Hence the...
Re. marriage register entry, forgot to mention there was only one witness, a "Nath'l Harris". He appears as a signatory on 6 of the 8 marriage entries that follow John and Sarah - so no help there.
The image of the 18 May 1888 is available on FMP and has been transcribed as John Richard (no "s" - tho' it's clearly there) and Ann Fricker (the "T" in Sarah's last name is rather flowery where she...

As mentioned at post #3 late baptism can happen preparatory to marriage. Cannot see a marriage close to the 11 Jun 1824 baptism but there is a much later marriage of a William Wright and Martha...

Place - Wednesbury, St Bartholomew
The Free Reg entry reads 20 December 1670 - not 26 Dec 1671? The image of the baptism on FMP clearly reads 20 Dec 1670 - the Free Reg find confirms the mystery word at end of line is "Milner".

I felt I couldn't compose such an accomplished letter at twenty seven and three quarters let alone seven and three quarters.
I had a look at Walter James' military record - very impressive. Also...
Thanks for confirming "Officiating Minister" as "Traff'd Leigh".
Like Ancestry, FMP has transcribed as "Gibbings" - but it's understandable looking at the original.
Looking at the registers for St Bartholomew spotted the following in the frame to be siblings to Thomas Richards, bap 23 May 1675 -
8 Nov 1668 - William, son of John and Anne Richards - no mention...
St Mary's Church - Rectory (now long demolished) to the south.
Checking FMP for Cheadle marriages 1828 it returns 33 pages. A random check throws up "T (?) Leigh" or "Traff'd (?) Leigh" as minister officiating. A check of the newspapers shows an Edward Trafford...
If you look at the census entry it reads "Ephran" - although transcribed as "Ephraim" on FMP.
"Ephran is aged 3 months and the Census was taken 2 April - so you are looking for a DoB at the start of...

That's the approach I've been following - first turning up Samuel Coppock in Water Street.
This map, surveyed 1845, published 1848, shows the area to the west of Heaton Norris
