The exact wording says "He is survived by a sister, Miss Maude Bond" so we now know that Maude was alive in January 1953, and unmarried, aged 77.

1895 Maude Bond was in Kansas, including 1900, 1905, 1910, 1920.

According to the newspaper report Maude was alive when her brother died in Doniphan, Nebraska, USA...
