And I am quite familar with the numbering system. My Grandfather had two Military numbers, one from Royal Dublin Fusilliers and a different number from the Labour Corps

are you certain the number on the Silver Badge is NOT a BADGE number? Is it not the Service Number of the Soldier to whom it was issued?
