Yes they intend to launch them in July. Somewhere around the 10th or thereabouts.
What they are putting on-line are the microfilm copies of each parish. So they aren’t indexed or searchable other than by going through each page, parish by parish. So OK if you know the right parish, but not much use if you have no idea where in Ireland your ancestors lived. Other warnings (having worked with the microfilm copies myself) many are so faded as to be illegible. Handwriting is sometimes excellent but often dreadful. Many early records are in Latin, and also NLI don’t have all the possible RC parish records in Ireland. There are some that, for one reason or another, are still held by the parish and never made it to NLI.
A good site to use to check what records exist for each RC parish is this one. It will tell you whether NLI have the records.

Thanks for this. I'm quite prepared for the microfilm experience having been through quite a few Irish films at the LDS. I have several parishes I have been wanting to look at for years, but never get the opportunity to go to Dublin.
I'm sure it will be very useful.
Thanks.
The official launch date is supposedly 8th July but the Irish have missed promised dates before. Also these microfilms only go up to the 1880s, later periods you will still need to pay up to Irish Roots.
Here is a link to John Grenham's blog having tried a taster for the new release.
