While looking for my great grandmothers death record on 1837 I found something interesting. My grandfather's name was William Henry Whadcock born 1893. In 1916 i foun the death record of William Henry Whadcock born 1853. I went onto ancestry and found that william henry snr was the son of Joseph Whadcock my grandfathers grandfather. In 1881 Joseph Whadcock was a servant in leicester lunatic asylum with a WHW 27/8 (figure isn't too clear to read) patient who occupation was listed as a clerk. In 1891 William Whadcock is again listed as a lunatic in the asylum but by then his father had been dead for 6 years. Two questions would it be normal for the father of a patient to get work at the asylum that is ofspring where kept in and is there any way of getting the records of that particular lunatic asylum?
