I am looking for a lead to my 4X great-grandfather's family. His name was Bridger Champion. I believe he got the name from a family member who may have been born a Bridger. He was married in Cowfold in 1776 to Mary Luxford, his second marriage was to Sarah Willard in Findon, 1774. If anyone has information of a Bridger married to a Champion in their tree in the early 1700's, would love to hear from you.
Thank you for any help you may offer. Will be looking forward to any replies.
Regards, Brenda, in Ontario, Canada.

Hi Brenda, me again,

I thought this might be his parents marriage, but it's too late, but there has to be a connection.

Thank you so much, Jane. This is the first lead to finding Bridger's family that I have received. You have helped me tremendously. I will now have another area to search. Thanks again, Brenda, in Ontario, Canada.

Your welcome, Brenda. I'm just a wee bit annoyed that the BRIDGER/CHAMPION marriage wasn't the marriage of Bridger's parents, I thought I was being soooo clever:)

If you need anything else, just let me know, I'm researching in Sussex also.
Wherabouts in Ontario are you? I spent last December in Ottawa with my son, love the country!
Regards,
Jane

Hello Brenda,

I live in Sussex. The Champions were/are a hunting family, closely connected to the Old Surrey and Burstow Hunt. A couple of generations back there was a Bridger Champion who I believe was the huntsman or master. If this is a branch of your family I may be able to find out a bit more about them.

Kind regards
Oursong.
