One of My Paternal 2x Grt-GrandMothers was Sarah Prudon Bn C1842 Edgemond, Salop (Taken from 1871 Census in Liverpool).

By 1871 Sarah had married John EATON (Bn C1844, Knutsford, Cheshire) & had 2 Children:

Alfred 9Yrs old

Eliza 2 Yrs old

I have had no luck trying to find Sarahs Birth (or indeed Any Info on Her or Her Family in Shropshire).

Any Help Will be Greatly Appreciated!

Hi Pegasus :)

I would guess that you haven't a copy of their marriage certificate which will provide you with some really important information.

District, Church, Parish, Location,
Date of Marriage, Forename & Surnames, Ages,
Marital Conditions, Professions, Addresses,
Father's Forename & Surname, Father's Occupations, for both parties present.
Witness names, Priest/Vicar's Name,& Signature

I have found an entry on FreeBMD which on first sight, doesn't ideally fit your known information, although that doesn't mean that it is NOT the correct one.
However, as FreeBMD is not fully transcribed yet, a search of the GRO index
may offer you a better alternative?

Marriage Sep 1866
Surname First name(s) District Vol Page
Eaton John W.Derby 8b 611
PRUDEN Sarah W.Derby 8b 611

(The district W.Derby is an alternative name for West Derby and it is in the county of Lancashire)

http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/
You can search the index online at 1837 online

(There are also instructions for ordering the certificate)

Good luck & best wishes

Lynda

Thank You Lynda.

Since I posted this Query My Cousin has shown Me Her Files (which Included the exact date of John Eaton & Sarah Prudons Marriage: 16-9-1866).

I will be going to Order a Certificate & also I will have a look at the Church Register as Well! (which sometimes has More Info in it!)

Hi Pegasus,

Whilst at Shropshire Archives today, I had a quick look at this.

In the Edgemond register, dated 9 Aug 1842, there was the Christening of Sarah, daughter of Ann PRUDON, a Servant of Edgemond.

Although it's not very clear, I could let you have a photograph of the entry if you contact me direct.

Hope it helps,
Gwynne.

Update:

Sarah PRUDON, Bn August 1842, Edgmond, Shropshire

Sarah was Christened on 7th August 1842

Daughter of Ann PRUDON.

Ann was working as a Farm Servant in 1841:

1841 Census, Shropshire

As usual, I took the Age given for Ann with a Pinch of Salt, and found:

Ann PRUDEN
Christened: 5th Feb 1823, Edgemond, Shropshire
Parents: Wm & Ann PRUDEN
(This 'May Be' the same Ann that I found on the 1841 Census?)

Also, I found a Marriage:

Ann PRUDEN & Robert WHILKEM
11th Dec 1843, Edgemond

Could someone (with access to 1851 Census of Shropshire) please look Up:

Robert WHILKEM
Ann WHILKEM, 28Yrs old
Ann PRUDON/PRUDEN/WHILKEM, 8 or 9Yrs old

Also On the 1841 Edgemond, Shropshire Census:

William PRUDEN
Ann PRUDEN (Wife)
