Mahood in County Down

Anyone else trying to trace this family? The children of James Mahood and Rose (surname unknown) emigrated to Liverpool in about 1840. I have quite a bit of information about them from then on, but would like to push back into the 18th century in County Down. They were probably living in Portaferry, as one of their sons gave that as his birthplace in the 1851 census.
