Most peoples perspective of Georgian and Victorian East end of london is influenced by Oliver and Jack the Ripper, so they may, like me, be surprised by an entry in Holdens Triennial Directory 1805/1807 which reads:

Wells Mr. and Mrs. .school for young ladies and
gentlemen. 274, Wapping-street.

I have found no other entries for this school nor the proprietors and am curious about it. Can anyone suggest how I can find anything more?

thanks Ed

Hi Ed
I have a similar problem being in Somerset, with interests in Essex and Lincolnshire. However, I have found that Local Studies sections in libraries are quite helpful over the phone, with a written or e-mailed follow up if needed. The worst they can do is say no.
