Hi all

My mother-in-law has a small Victorian era decorative pedestalled lidded urn in beaten copper with glass jewels. It may or may not have a family connection.

The main body of the urn would barely do justice as an egg cup, but there is also a small openable compartment at the base, with a punched inscription:

------------------

J Thomsin

l.i.c.

Emiline Thomsin

30 June 1862

-----------------

Likely Thomsin rather than Thomsen.

Although I'd not mind finding out more about the object and the people, the main thing I'd like to ask the Forum is what is 'l.i.c.'?

Any ideas received with thanks.

At a guess, I'd say 'Lost In Childbirth'.

Unfortunately,I can find no death or birth records.

Hopefully someone else will have a better idea, or ideas
