Davidsons - Berwick Upon Tweed, Alnwick

Hoping to find out more about John Davidson, about 1820-1869, born Alnwick, marrried Ellen/Eleanor ?? ( born about 1830 in North Alnwick) After marriage, they moved to Berwick. He was a tailor. After John's death, Ellen ran a lodging house and was a Deputy Matron at a local Gaol. This is from the 1871 census, and I don't currently have access to earlier ones. Known children: Ellen, Robert, Margaret, Marion, though it's possible there were older ones. IGI has some parish records from Berwick and Alnwick, but not much of use with with this family group.

If anyone can point me in the right direction for additional information, I'd appreciate it.

I have DAVIDSONs .....one of whom married into my HENSONs of South Shields. This family is John b. Coldstream , Berwick in 1835 , a plasterer with wife , Caroline b. 1835 in Edinburgh ; children were John b. 1862 . Matthew Paxton b. 1865 , Isabella b. 1865 , Caroline b. 1867 James b. 1868 who m. Mary Ann HENSON in South Shields in 1899 , David b. 1870 and Jane b. Kelso, Roxburgh in 1871 . Any connections ?

A relative corrected me to say that James was b. in Shetland and that his family moved to South Shields and ran a confectioners shop!!
