I have stumbled upon an excellent site for information on Tower Hamlets.

It can be found at http://www.mernick.co.uk/thhol/main.html and as the Home Page says "You will find here a mixture of histories and descriptions of the Tower Hamlets area as it was in the past, all taken from the Tower Hamlets' Local History Library and Archives."

If you have any ancestors from this part of London, take a look, I'm sure you will find something of interest :)
