Horan of Birr

Seeking Ellen Horan from Birr - my great grandmother.
Marriage certificate 1858 to John Holdsworth Hewitson in Victoria Australia states b c 1835 Birr. Father John Thomas Horan, mother Johanna Lewis.
Has not been found on any shipping list.
Death certificate as certified by her son states father Patrick Horan & mother as Margaret Lewis
Possibly because he was Irish he was known as Paddy. I think Johanna can also be Margaret - but not certain on this.
Any help appreciated.

Death certificates are the least reliable documents. As Ellen stated the information herself when marrying then those names are more likely to be correct. Was she Catholic? If not then there is a greater chance that the church records have not survived. Have you searched the database on the RootsIreland website?

Yes, she was Catholic. Her first three sons were Robert William, John Thomas & Patrick George & I agree that John Thomas would be correct for her father. Have benn on to RootsIreland with no luck. I realize the records are probably no longer around.
