How may I find out which British Army units operated in or around Rangoon, Burma, during WW2?

Well, published histories (there are various bibliographies available), WW2 operational records (see http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/help-with-your-research/research-guides/british-army-operations-second-world-war/)

Are you sure there isn't an underlying question? Most people come here looking for information about a person.

Thanks for kindly replying, this was my first question on here, so I was not sure whether to include the person in question! The relative I seek information on is - Alan (or Allen) Holt.

Welcome to the British-Genealogy forums.

I think you may have come to us from Forces War Records so reading This (https://www.british-genealogy.com/threads/82046-FWR-Members-Please-Read)will tell you a little about us.

Do you have this man's service record? If not it can be ordered from the MoD (who hold WW11 service records). This 'sticky' (https://www.british-genealogy.com/threads/81920-Finding-service-records-for-WW2-and-after?p=585757#post585757)explains and gives links to the relevant sites.

Thanks again. Mr. Alan (or Allen) Holt, was my Father. Sadly I have no records to this effect, and my parents did not marry. I have so little information, but if I can discover which Army brigades, units, etc., were in Burma (Rangoon etc) I can begin to narrow the names down. Thanks anyway. Melvyn.
