Lagar??

Has anyone heard of a place in ireland called Lagar? If so, i would be really pleased if you could give me any information you can. Many thanks.

I know of no Lagar in Ireland, nor does any show up in the townland index. However it does list four townlands called Lagan, and in older irish writing the lowercase letter r often looked like a n with a slightly long leg on the left of the letter so might easily lead to confusion between the letters r and n.

Many thanks for your reply. Being a bit geographically challenged i thought maybe i was just missing it, but as the information came from census records i think you could well have hit on the solution for me!! :)
