Thank you for reading my post.
I am trying to identify the school that my great-grandfather was attending when he lived in London in the mid 1870s. He may have been living the area around Barnes, St Mary, Surrey, or Manor Place, Newington, London.

So far I haven't found any evidence of men's suits of that time having button holes on both sides of the lapels, so I'm now working on the theory that he's dressed in a uniform. In the photo on the left he looks to be slightly older than the other. I know he was living in Edinburgh prior to 1871, and was a maritime apprenticed early in 1875. He was signed up at the age of 15.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
