hi, john morgan jones was born in pontardawe glamorgan wales abt 1856 died abt 1943 wife jane owens 1862 trying to find their parents but does not seem to be any more info on them anywhere can anyone help dapter

there is a John Jones on the 1871 Census but with an approximate birth year of 1860. Do you have a copy of the marriage certificate? That would show their father's names and occupations, a definite help.

Findmypast, which is a pay per view site, has quite a few Glamorgan parish records. There is a baptism for a John Morgan JONES in March 1855 at Llanguick which is very close to Pontardawe. Sorry, I cannot give you full details as terms & conditions of subscriptions to FMP prevent this. However, this John Morgan JONES can be found on the 1871 census in the village of Treforest, Glamorgan (RG10/5382, folio 71, page 60).

You really do need to purchase his marriage certificate as Nicolina has suggested in the post above (June qtr 1891 at Merthyr Tydfil reg district), otherwise you could spend a lot of time going down the wrong track.

Also remember that when looking for Jane's ancestors she may be recorded both as Owens and Owen.
