I would be most grateful if anyone could throw any light on the birth of Samuel Dean, son of George Dean, in Stockport around 1835.

George was a stonemason and, if his son's life is anything to go by (another stonemason), could well have moved around a lot. Of course, I could be wrong! If anyone can find them in 1851 that would be most useful. I've looked in 1861 but cannot find George. By this time Samuel was married and, although I can find his wife and children, living with his in-laws, I can't find him.

TIA,

Heatha.

Thank you very much. That's a great help. Sadly, I don't see me getting to Cheshire to the records office in the near future, so the 1851 census appears out of reach.

Thanks again for your help.

Why is it out of reach ?

Stockport Local Heritage Library are very helpful. Why not drop them a line or an e mail.

They have the 1851 census surname indexed so should be able to help you with a query by post.

Just a thought

Thanks, Antony. Fortunately somebody on a different website has helped out. Sorry it's taken so long to reply but I've been away.
