Born 1920, and joined RAF after completing a motor mechanic apprentiship.

Was apparently the "tallest man in Middle East airforce" where he was an engine fitter.

No records showing at all!!

Has anyone any pointers which might help?

You'll find all 'service records sets' are still held only by the MoD.
FWR, FMP and other sites that do have WWII 'records' are referring to POW, casualty, air crash, awards etc not the actual service records themselves.

There is a 'sticky' at the top of the page to assist you.
