I am amazed and indeed saddened that no-one has ANY info whatsoever about the 2nd Batt, South Staffs , which were one of the first units in France in August 1914, served continually on The Western Front till after the end of hostilities (and then in AoO, Germany 1919) and which fought in many of the major engagements of The Great War. You are all severely admonished !! Seriously, can anyone help at all please ? I have the War Diary (a big help); and I have got what little info is kept at the Reg Museum : and no-one even suggested the Museum in answer to my previous plea for help. Perhaps the 2nd batt, South Staffs' part in The Great War has been forgotten, along with The Old Contemptibles like my grandad...................Ron
