His medal roll card is on ancestry but is of no help in locating relatives of course.
He entered France 9 April 1915.
I did find this but still no use to you.
John E Harford
Departed Calabar, Nigeria
Passenger landed at Plymouth 16 Mar 1910
Port of Arrival, Liverpool, England
Ports of voyage Calabar Lagos Accra Dakar
Ship - Nigeria

On ancestry there is a tree with a John E Harford in it born Marylebone London 1891 which has his parents as Lavinia and John Charles Harford. I mention this because the tree owner has the father marrying in Bathurst in 1883 (I can't see this on NSW BMD's) and death in Liverpool NSW 1940. BUT it is a very mixed up tree with John E being in 1901 uk census with his mother. There are also other discrepancies with marriages, dates of birth etc. but it was the connection to Australia that caught my eye.
Did you buy the medals off ebay Australia?
