Hello, :cheers2: Everyone;

I am researching my son-in-law's family. His maternal great grandparents are from Middlesbro. I have a fair amount of information regarding the people, what I have been trying to find is some information on the cemetery where most or all of them have been buried, St. Joseph's Cemetery, North Ormesby, Middlebro. I have bee unable to find a history of the place on the internet. If there is anyone out there who might have some information they can share it would be most appreciated.

Thank you almach.

Always wonderful when people want to keep alive the memory of the soldiers. Sadly, I have already explored those sites with no success in finding relatives or historical information on the place. I was hoping someone might know where there might be an history of St. Joseph's Cemetery or a compiled list of those interred.

Thank you so much for your help

You may already know about it, but the Gravestone Photographic Resource website at http://www.
gravestonephotos.com/
includes photos of the memorials at St Joseph's - though there is a note to the effect that the only information they have on the site is about the number of records they hold.

Also the Cleveland FHS have published a CD with memorial inscriptions - details at http://www.
clevelandfhs.org.uk/ - follow the link to Publications and look for North Ormesby.
Often FHS publications include a potted history of the place in question; as a member of the Cleveland FHS I know that they are quite strong on dealing with queries, so I think it would be in order to enquire first whether there's anything like that on this one. Alternatively, the society has a forum on its website where you might be able to tap in to some local knowledge.

I see someone has already told you about the Cleveland Family History Society of which I am also a member. As well as a cd for St. Joseph's R.C. Cemetery North Ormesby they have a local coordinator for the National Burial Index so you could ask him for specific names. The email address is [email protected]

Hope this helps.

Arthur, Chrissie,

Thank you both for the wonderful leads. I'm still getting used to the way information is handled in the UK. I have to brain-shift every time I begin research in a different country (there are several). I figure I will, eventually, either get the different patterns down or become totally scatter-brained. It looks like I will first need to obtain the list from "clevelandfhs" and go from there.

Thank you Both again.
