I am doing research for my girlfriend on her father Edward Alfred Francis who served with the RAF during the Second World War. Information is hard to come by and the only data I have found so far on this site suggests that he was a Technical Branch (Engineer} Flying Officer mentioned in despatches for distinguished service. We know he was honorably discharged from service due to mental health reasons and that's about it. Any assistance from fellow researchers to learn more about his wartime service would be appreciated.

The National Archives would be a good place to start -

"Records of RAF airmen and officers who served after 1922, and of men whose service number was 329001 or higher, are still with the RAF. Look on the Veterans UK website to find out how to obtain service records."
