hi list,
can any body help please.,
looking for the family of oldrey.living in chippenham wiltshire 1940/1950,
living at 5park fields,chippenham.WINIFRED ALICE MARION OLDREY,SHE WAS LIVING WITH GEORGE CHANDLER,THEY NEVER MARIED.they had a child in 1949.that child was given up for addoption,and now is my sons mother in law,,,,,

Hi Mick,
You have struck gold. I am your sons motherilaws cousin along with three other cousins, a bevy of 2nd cousins and of course a half sister whose name is Christine.
We only knew of an existence of a half sister just a few years ago when my mother, who was dying, told Christine and me that she had a half sister.
I spent some time searching for info on the web but drew a blank.
The story that I was told was that the father was a farmer who lived, I believe, in the grounds of the old Draycot House (now demolished) whose wife was childless and that the child was handed over - no mention of adoption.
The family is a bit scattered, I live in Bristol, my sister Beryl lives in Hinkley,
Valerie and Jean live in Essex.
Christine lives in Trowbridge.
We look forward to yor reply - there is lots to tell including a maternal family tree going back to the 1800's
