Latin "traveller"?

In the Wethersfield register, the early 1700s part is in latin

Carolus filius hospitis itinerantis {or itinerantie}

does this mean "Carol son of a traveler", or son of a visitor?

Carol definitely seems to be a boys name at the time, as I have a Carolus filius Johannis OWERS and all the girls are "filia" and all the boys are "filius"

Charles son of a foreigner/guest travelling/itinerant.

Michelle - you are there, with "Charles, son of a traveller". Good guessing. (Carolus is the Latin form of Charles.)

Thanks, I was going by the name list from Freereg http://www.freereg.org.uk/howto/latinnames.htm

which strangely doesn't give the latin for Charles! Charles does seem more logical.
