It would seem like a good idea, having read apost to then do a search to see if it's a repeat of a previous post--NOT !!. Time's too short, & there'd be no time left for anything else.
Had I been wise enough to look HERE (http://http://www.british-genealogy.com/forums/showthread.php/76952-Marriage-of-CHRISTINA-GALL-1863-SCOTLAND*?highlight=Rennie) before I leapt in a mad dash to HERE (http://http://www.british-genealogy.com/forums/showthread.php/77737-PLEASE-help-look-up-2-things-on-Scot-s-PPL?highlight=Rennie)

I may have also been able to assist some-one else similarly. Just as well there are a lot of helpers out there.

Hi Wendy
Still can't connect to your links.

Maybe they are my threads and my computer is sympathetic and won't allow me access. :smile5:

Sorry, guess I've lost 'it'. If you copy/paste into bar at top all will be revealed.

I sympathise Wendy. |hug| Especially if you've spent money in trying to help.

Perhaps the AUP should have a note which says 'If you're posting a further query about a person/topic for which there is already a thread, either continue in the same thread or else provide a link to your first thread to avoid duplication of research by people willing to assist you. Failure to do so will alienate people.'
I know that last sentence sounds harsh, but it's true. In the eight and a half years I've been a member of BG I've wasted more than a couple of hours because of duplicate posts and I have not been a happy bunny. |rant|

I was very happy to be able to do it Pam, but could have saved time & credits by going straight to the ready source. AUP is good only if it's read & remembered. I have actually got 2 left, useless tho' for items requiring 5.

No don't rush me please

And if you google you may find where the poster or others looking for similar info have posted

Now all we have to do is persuade all new members to read the AUP and this forum will be nigh on perfect................

Oh it's ok I am back in the real world now

Now all we have to do is persuade all new members to read the AUP

Suggestion - when someone wants to join, could they be sent an email with the AUP to read and a clickable link to confirm that they accept this before they actually become members? Of course, not all of them would actually read it...
