Hi I am looking for information on John Gossage b c 1812 m Hannah Crathorne in 1833, their son Eli Ruben m Hannah Hall in 1853. Hannah left Eli and came to Australia in 1883. I know that Eli died in London in 1901.

Thank you for looking this up for me I will now have to find John and Emily's marriage date, she appears to have married at about 14 or 15 to a much older man. John's children with Hannah were Eli Ruben b 1834, Betsey B 1836, John b 1837 and Mary Ann b 1840.
Eli married Hannah (Anna) Hall 29 may 1853 St Lucks Birmingham so I guess some of their childern were born there and I know that Miriam b 1871, Eli Ruben b 1873 and Joseph b 1875 were born at Kings Norton. Anna is there on the 1881 census and after this she came to Australia and Eli moved in with Sarah Johns as Hannah was alive I don't think he could have ever married her.
Kind regards
Michelle

Hi Jeremy
I have had a look for a marriage of John and Emily on the IGI and I can't find one, I also looked for the birth of Louisa and Betsey and I can't find them either. Would it be possible to look at the 1871 census for them.
John's wife Hannah Crathorne I beleive was born at Kins Norton c1813 to John and Elizabeth Parkes, are you able to confirm this?
Thanking you once again.

Hi Jeremy
Wow what can I say 16 children better her than me! I think my Hannah must be Susannah b 1815 as their is no Hannah.
Thank you for looking this up for me. I did look at free BDM's for the marriage of John and Emily plus the children and they are not there at all. I will now have a look to see if their deaths are registered.
I guess Ellen Harris must be from an earlier marriage of John wife Ann I will also have a look at that. Is Kings Heath close to Kings Norton as I noticed that on the 1891 census Eli R said he was born at Kings Heath instead of Kings Norton and the same happen for Louisa b 1856 1861 KN and 1871 KH.
By the way I did find Eli R on the 1881 census he is there as Ruben living with
Sarah Johns and her 2 daughters.
Are you able to look for Eli Ruben and Hannah (Anna)? They should be on the 1871 census as I know that they had Miriam Bap in 1871 at Kings Norton.
You do a great job. Thank you sooooo much.

Hi Michelle,
Sorry but I didn't do that great a job, I missed the all important one!

Hannah dau of John & Elizabeth Crathorne 22 March 1813 at Kings Norton.

Kings Heath is very close to Kings Norton and I think but not 100% sure is in the parish of Kings Norton. It lies slightly South West of Yardley, stated by John Gossage (1813) as his birth place.

Betsy Gossage Dau 11 Born Kings Norton

Hi Jeremy
Thanks for all this info. I have been working on my Slade line and Robert had 19 children but he was married twice. Could you tell me when the 1871 census was taken? as then I will have the date of Mary's birth.
Michelle
