Thank you so much for this, I have been hunting for this for ages, on later census it was stated as Suffolk but was not sure if it was Essex.
thanks again

I have looking for the wife of John Fryatt Ann Wybrew born 1770 Rivenhall Essex
Looking at the web site of Rivenhall I have come across this entry.
For me I think that "Fanny" should have been Annie. As she married John Fryatt in 1790 both were from Rivenhall I believe she is the daughter of William Wybrew and that his father could be Will Wybrew. The only thing I can not find out is what does a "Base Son" mean I have also found her brother John Wybrew on the Census of 1851 in Witham.
I hope this might help

The name I believe should be WHYBREW

WHYBREW ORIGINALS IN THE 18TH CENTURY REGISTERS RIVENHALL ESSEX
In chronological order

Note: The Rivenhall registers begin in 1639, but there are no signs of this name until the later 18th century.

1760 Baptism (Sunday) 13 April William, base son of:
Will WYBREW & Judith HORSENAIL

Burial (Thursday) 17 April William, son of Will WYBREY & Judith Horsenail.

1764 Wedding (Sunday) 21 Oct. William WIBROUGH by banns to
Hannah LEPER (dau. Of Jn/Mary Leper)
both of Rivenhall and made their marks;
Wm. Hatsell, rector; Elizabth Hannah Moss
and John Moss witnesses.

1771 Baptism (Sunday) 20 Jan. Fanny, dau. of William & Hannah WYBREW

1774 Baptism (Sunday) 17 July Abraham son of William/Hannah WYBREW
He later m. Sarah and was buried at Rivenhall
On Wed.28 May, 1845 aged 70.

1777 Baptism (Sunday) 8 June John son of William/Hannah WYBOROUGH
In Jan.1806 John m. Jemima Ann Mott at Rivenhall
He was buried at Rivenhall 3 Aug.1856 aged 80.

1781 From Church Rates Book: There had been an outbreak of smallpox and other illness in the parish:"Dame WYBERROW for nursing widow Boltwood, 1/-"
Mary Boltwood, widow, appears in the burials on 18th March, 1784 having died on the 16th.

1782 Baptism (Sunday) 5 May George, son of William/Hannah WIBREW

1788 Burial (Sunday) 25 May William WIBOROUGH, a pauper
(A Hannah Wiborough buried Wed.21/6/1809 -no age given; a Hannah 'WYBROW' was buried at Rivenhall
Tues.9 Jan.1827 aged 86. - i.e.b.c.1740
This identifies her as the Hannah Leper Bapt.
23 Nov.1740 who m. Wm. Wybrew)

1790 Wedding (Sunday) 31 Oct John FRYETT, widower m. by banns:
Ann WYBREW, spinster, both of Rivenhall and
made their marks; Jenkin Beynon, minister;
John Wood Jnr and Thos. Moss witnesses.

In an 1803 list of the 64 cottage dwellers in the parish, we find the name of 'Hannah WIBROW'.

Notes: - The name seems to have been written by a rector and the earlier parish clerks
‘as it sounded' - the final part 'brough' as in e.g.
Scarborough. This fits in with what P. H. Reaney had to say on the name 'Wyber' and its derivatives Wyberg, Wybergh, Wybrew, and Wybrow etc. in...
"A Dictionary of British Surnames", Routledge & Kegan Paul 2nd imp.1961
Although the spelling 'Whybrow' does occur a couple of times in the 18th century Rivenhall registers, it was probably due to a new parish clerk coming upon the scene who had not met this form before. As the 19th century moved on,'Whybrew' became the standard spelling in this parish.
