View Full Version : 1851 look-up on Eli Sparkes

Hello Somerset,
Looking for the 1851 census information on Eli Spark(e)s and his family.
He was born in 1840 in Taunton, his father was John Spark(e)s, born 1796 in West Buckland and his mother was Jane, born around the same time, place unknown. All probably resident in Taunton (St Jame) in 1851.Anybody out there that can help me?

Dear Debbi,
I'll take you up on your offer! Re. James & Fanny Parkman - are they married or single? Also, can you look up James in the 1841 census to find his family . I half suspect that Jane Sparks's maiden name may be Parkman.

sorry to be so long in replying but I have had a few days away in Dorset!!

I can not do 1841 Somerset I am afraid but I am looking at the 1851 again to see if it says the two Parkmans are married to each other.

Hi Debbi,
Thanks very much for that info. I'll have to check the IGI for their marriage to see whether Fanny's maiden name was Sparks.

Dear Mike,

yes wonderful time thank you.Managed to get to Lyme Regis,Charmouth,Weymouth and Portland.Stayed at Seatown on a campsite which looked lovely until we found we had camped next to a hedge that hid a sewage treatment works.....needless to say we went out all day every day.

I had a quick look on FreeBMD but couldnt find a marriage for you,didnt get as far as the IGI.
