Hi,
I am looking for any more information regarding Andrew Donnelly b 1858 in Dunston. He married Jane Wooldrige in 1881, she was,at the time, the post mistress of the Benwell Post Office. After their marriage they ran the Dun Cow Post Office. They had a son called John George whom I believe became Post Master General for Newcastle on Tyne.
Does the Dun Cow PO still exist and is it in the same place as it was in 1901? Are there any records regarding John George - apparently his funeral was a rather grand affair that was probably covered by the local newspapers.
Where does the name Dun Cow come from?
