Hello,
I have ancestors who were married at Manchester Cathedral in 1839. On the marriage certificate for Matthew Morton and Ann Colligan it gives the address for both of them as Every Street,Manchester. Does anyone know if this street still exists? Also is there a record of which parish this was in so that I can access parish records to find their respective birth records.
Thanks
Lesley

Every Street, Manchester runs between the A665, Great Ancoats Road and the A662 Merrill Street. In other words, it's just east of Piccadilly Station.

I would presume this is the Every Street that is meant. There is also Every Street, Bury and Every Street, Haslingden.

If you are stuck for locations, a good online map is:

Sorry, can't help with parishes.

Lesley, Every Street is Ancoats. See http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/churchdb/
for possible churches.
I would however caution that Every Street may not have been their home address and you will end up looking elsewhere for their birth.

Thankyou to both Geoffers and John for their information. I have just had a quick look at genuki, there are no less than four different churches listed for Every Street although I think the Round House may prove to be the most useful.
Thanks again

I doubt that the Round House will prove the most useful if you are searching for births before 1839.
The Round House wasn't built until 1855!

Easily done Lesley! I don't think you'll find very much of Every Street in the early 1800's. As far as I can tell it was in it's early stages of construction in the 1820's

Hi!

You will find photos of Manchester Streets, on the following site, I think you will find some photos of Every Street, under Ancoates, Manchester.
