Good day fellow Boer war enthusiasts, please can anyone help me?
My database of all known British dead for the Boer War, which is open to everyone, has a few gaps in it that "say" died in the UK which would probably indicate they died in a military hospital there. Can anyone suggest where I can obtain lists of the dead for Netley, Aldershot and Wollwich hospitals, or others that may fir the scenario
Kind regards
Kaigs

Hello Kaigs,

Check out the Hospital Records Database (http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/hospitalrecords/). :smile5:

Records of military hospitals are hard to come by.

Are you saying that you have some actual names of soldiers who may have died in UK? If so, have you checked against the sources mentioned in this National Archives Guidance (http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/records/looking-for-person/birthmarriagedeatharmedforces.htm)?

Thanks Jan and Peter.
Yes Jan I have checked the National Archives at Kew but the information that I want does not appear to be available on line and living in South Africa does not give me the option of visiting there.
Yes Peter what I am saying is, of the +- 24000 names on my database, there are quite a number who did die in the UK after being invalided home with either wounds or disease. I understand that Netley in particular did keep a record of those that died but where to get a copy is troubling me. Although I have the names of those that died in the UK I do not have dates and place confirmation which is why I need to view the records.
