Hi ! I hope someone can help me.
I am researching my ancestors in the Moulton and Whaplode areas.

I would like listing for Nathaniel CHRISTIAN born Moulton near Spalding 1829.
His father's name was Nathaniel and mother Sarah. Both 1841 and 1851 cenus.
And any siblings ???

Also the lady who became his first wife - Mary Ann GARRATT - is listed in later census as being born at Moulton about 1830 or 1831.
I do not know the names of her parents or any other family.
Again both 1841 and 1851 listings please !

I look forward to hearing from anyone who is able to provide me with this information.

Thanks from

Mayzflower

Hello Mayzflower.
On th 1841 census Naphaniel and wife Sarah were living on the Turnpike road in Moulton - this was the main road through the village.
Also with them were
Mary age 20
Margaret age 13
Naphaniel age 12.
Don't have the 1851 census but on the 1861, both Naphaniels were farming in Whaplode.
It's possible that Mary married in the march 1866 quarter in Moulton.
On the 1861 census Margaret was a servant in Sculcoates Yorkshire. She could have married in the march 1866 quarter in Sculcoates.

Thanks Geoff and Mick. Your info is greatly appreciated. I always get so excited about finding another generation of ancestors.

If anyone has old photos of this area (Moulton-Whaplode) - anything - old houses, landscapes or schools, shops etc. please contact me as it is difficult to visit from way down here in NZ.

Thanks again, this info has been really helpful.

Hello,

My grandmother and her grandfather lived in Whaplode - they had a cottage in Double Street, which was renamed Kirkgate and then demolished to make way for a factory in the 1960s.

My gran was born in Whaplode in 1911 and raised by her grandfather Frank Walker and his housekeeper Annie Harrison. Frank was born in Whaplode in 1867 although I think he was raised in one of the outlying Holbeach hamlets and.

We have a small number of photos of the family which show the house in the background -if these would give you some idea of Whapolde and the conditions people lived in during the 1915-1935 era, then let me know by email at [email protected] and I will scane them for you.
