Can anyone advise if there was registration of apprentices? If so where may I access info on tailors of Liverpool?

The nearest to central registration was the tax imposed on indentures between 1710 and 1811. Archive CD Books (http://www.parishchest.com/shop/index.php) sell the surviving records up to the middle of the 18th century.

County Record Offices sometimes keep some records of local apprenticeships. There may also be records of local guilds, or records of admission of freemen - but again the County Record Office is the place to look first.

look to the masons guild! my ancestors were of the tailor craft starting with the cracknells of norfork. to sulfork around ixworth. the daines line and the dawkins who were kin to the cracknells; the daines marrying in. from ixworth to lancashire and manchester and then overseas to bc, canada - tailors all and masons.
