Not sure if this is the right forum for this question so forgive me. In a previous thread I had some help tracing a relative called Harry. but once found I could not go any further back as he does not appear on any census. Yet when checking the census records there is a Henry that fits his criteria and location.
My question is like in the past John became Jack like my grandfather, so would Henry be likely called Harry, as we call Prince "Harry" whose real name is Henry. Just need a guide really

Harry and Henry are definately interchangeable.

Thanks Megan, so its not unthinkable that this may be the same person,I realise its not cut and dried and that more research is needed but its a possible line of enquiry

This is a peril of trying to draw too many conclusions from census records instead of using the tried and tested method of working fundamentally from BMD data.
