The following data adds information to the relationships between the Hart- Pyke and Goldsmid lines who married into each other. Bernard Hart 1859-1929 was the son of Aaron Henry Hart and Ann Rebecca Crawcour. His siblings including Henry Aaron Hart and Grace Hanson nee Hart have had earlier postings.
Bernard appears in the 1861 census RG9 35 7 81 at Rose Lawn Cottage Oval Kennington and in 1871 census RG10 675 135 11 at 356 Kennington Road Lambeth. Bernard was born 21 August 1859 at Rose Lawn Cottage Oval Kennington and sailed on the 'Gladstone' arriving NSW 7 Oct 1883. His age is given as 23. Bernard married Rachel Pyke on Feb 20 1889 at Selby House Point Piper Road Woollhara.Rachel was the daughter of Moses Louis Pyke 1808-1894 and Esther Hart 1821-1881. The Pyke family had sailed on the 'Salem' arriving Melbourne March 1854 with 1 daughter Charlotte age 1 year.Moses was aged 40 and Esther 27. Moses was the son of Lewis Eleazer Pyke 1789-1851 Beadle of the Gt Synagogue. Moses and hsi wife are buried in Maitland Jewish Cemetry NSW.
Moses died 16 August 1894 West Maitland age 84 and the newspaper account records him being the father of Mrs Lawrence Levy, Sydney; Mrs Grunwald, Melbourne; Mrs A Pyke, NSW; Mrs Hart, Bathhurst; Mr Louis Pyke, Orange and Mr Eleazer Pyke, Melbourne; his brother Joseph Pyke of London and sister the late Mrs Horwitz, Hamilton.
