I have just started to research my Northamptonshire ancestors and would welcome contact with other researchers.
They are:

John DRAGE c1804 Bozeat, married Mary c1804 Uverstone.
Children Eliza c1827 Northampton, married William LYMAN. James c1832 Bozeat. Elizabeth c1835 Wellingborough. John c1837 Wellingborough. Thomas c1841 Wellingborough. Ann c1847 Wellingborough, married John RANDALL c1846 Wellingborough, in 1866.
There are Grand daughters Ellen SHARP c1856 Wellingborough & Elizabeth LINNELL c1856 Grafton Regis (maybe a variant of Lyman?).

George RANDALL c1811 Wellingborough, wife Mary c1812 Wellingborough.
Children Ann c1834, Elizabeth c1842 & John c1846 all Wellingborough.

John RANDALL & Ann (nee' DRAGE) my Great Great Grandparents moved to London in the 1880's.

I have the Drage's on the 1841, 1861 & 1871, about to do later ones, and Randall's on the 1861 others about to do, though do not have the 1841.

Hello Steve

Just to say that I think 'Uverstone' is probably 'Overstone' a village about 5 miles from where I live.

Other than that I'm afriad my connections with the area only date from the 1970's!

Good luck

Hi Gen,

Thanks for that, the 61 images are not brilliant, and 'Norths' as it seems to be called on the censuses is a strange county to me. All my other folk come from Hampshire, Sussex & London.

Regards,

Steve

Hi Steve

From the Northants Marriage Index.
Wellingborough 12 Mar 1832
George RANDAL otp, bachelor Mary MARTIN otp, spinster

Links in with 1st child you mentioned.

Could not see a John Drage who would have matched.

Hi Sandy,

That is brilliant, :D thanks very much. It is also nice to make some headway on direct line ancestors.

Shame about the Drage's but no doubt they will turn up in time.

Many thanks again.

This is a possible marriage as the first child was born in Northampton
John DRAGE otp
Mary GUTTERIDGE otp
1827 4-Jun Northampton All Saints

There is a Gutteridge connection in Overstone
Robert GUTTERIDGE of Overstone Elizabeth COOPER otp 1793 4-May Brafield-on-the-Green

Hi Marilyn,

Thank you very much :D for the DRAGE marriage information, it does look good, and I must investigate further. The GUTTERIDGE details are especially welcomed, giving a start to more family research.

I must look at what reference material is available pre-census for Northants, and I see the IGI is quite sparse in its coverage.

Once again many thanks, I appreciate the help.

Hi Steve
I know this is a strange request but I was wondering if you have ever come across a OLIVE WARD in your search as she married a DRAGE (but ive got no first name for this man!!!)
She was the daughter of Charles Ward and Mary Hollowell nee Amos -- Sister Mary bargee nurse.
I know this is a vague question - but if you have heard of her I would love to know more please.
thanks
happy hunting
Marian

Hi Marian,

You didn't give any clues about dates, but I've now seen your post on the Rootsweb Drage Message Board in Dec 2004.

Unfortunately you are too modern for me, my Ann DRAGE married in 1866, and so I'm then following the name back from then but not forwards, sorry.

There is a commercial web site (not 1837) that has name indexed the GRO indexes, so looking for an Olive WARD marriage would bring up the spouse. Of course you could search manually through the indexes, which are now free to view on Ancestry, (do not sign for a trial), but it is a beta version and some pages are difficult to find.

Good luck.

Hi Steve
Never mind it was worth a try. Im not really following that path totally myself - just came across you and thought Id ask as I would like to know more about Sister Mary.
Hopefully that makes sense to you.
thanks for getting back to me anyway
all the best
Marian
