Hi, Stewart ancestors of ours intermarried with Turnbulls twice circa 1800, and also with Whinfields- James Moore Hopper Whinfield & Richard Anthony Whinfield being brothers and each of their wives are distant cousins/great great aunts. I'd appreciate contact with more recent cousins! All lived around Newcastle.
Also we're in a quandry as David Turnbull Stewart, my gr gr gr grandfather was in Elswick for the 1861 census with his wife Frances, nee Middleton and children. We cannot find their marriage certificate however, but there's a marriage cert of David White Ridley Turnbull & Frances Middleton in 1847, just nine months before my gr gr grandfather was born. DWRT does not exist in any UK census or civil record I could find. before or after that wedding date, but David Turnbull Stewart's mother (Isabella) was reported in the Newcastle Courant as the wife of David Turnbull (not David Stewart) when she died. She, and some others are buried at Jesmond.
I'd be interested in contactung any Turnbulls who feel they might be related!
