I’d like to learn more about my 8xgt-grandfather, Robert NEWTON, who was the Rector of Frittenden, Kent from the 1660s until his death in 1725. I’ve looked at the Frittenden parish registers for that period but not many have survived and he didn’t add any little notes to give me clues about his personality. I also have his will and the wills for his wife, one son and one daughter.

I was wondering if it’s worth looking at the parish chest records, and if so which ones? I don’t want to order all five FHL films, at least not all at once!

Are there any other sources I could check out?

I've found an entry for him on the CCEDB. Clergy of the Church of England Database.

Not much. But a start.

Thank you Ken!
That tells me his appointment date (I wasn't sure of the year) and his education too.
