Can anyone let me have their best shot at these witnesses? Apart from John Henry Dixon, who is a definite.

Thomas Hanaden was my best guess as well. I did wonder if the middle one could be Mary Crawford

What date is this, Sue? Are any of them likely to be in a census?

Sorry, no. These are witnesses to a marriage in Grahamstown, South Africa in 1832. I am proofreading transcriptions for eggsa and the original transcriber did so well I am trying to contribute my two penn'orth by filling in the few gaps she has left. Some I have found on NAAIRS, but this one has been bugging me

I thought it looked early, but didn't think about it being from 'furrin parts'. Could the middle name be of Dutch extraction?

There was indeed a Thomas HARRADEN who married a Mary MOUNTFORT living in the Grahamstown area.

Well done Kerry! I wouldn't have taken a gander at this one!
