How do I trace moving records ?

Do you mean records of when someone moved from one place to another.

If so when and where would be helpful; what occupation, was this a family who had moved a lot? - or had they lived in one area? Was it urban/rural?

If the family moved in the 19th century, you may find some local advertisement seeking for labourers - try the Devon Record Office to see if they have any such posters or information. If the family was not wealthy, try any surviving Poor Law Union records to see if there was discussion about movement of labourers.

If the family was reasonably wealthy, was the move as a result of a marriage, or to go into business? Is there record of any lease of property in whih they end up living?

You may find something, or you may not - but on the limited information provided it is imposible to say.
