Can anyone give me the reason why and how the village of BROOKE received its name? Did it have anything to do with Rajah Brooke of Sarawak or his family from Norwich?Not unless he lived prior to the invasion of William the Bastard. Brooke is mentioned in Domesday.

I would guess the beck or brook running just south of the modern village was the source of the present place name.
