This unfortunate was, in the words of the Broughton in Furness (Lancashire) Coroner, who registered the death on 28 June 1847, "Found drowned on the Sands where the Tide Water flows". Date of death is given as 4 April 1847, and he is described as a 21 years old Labourer.

I have found him in the 1841 census, but he was working as a farm labourer, so there are no clues as to the identity of his parents.

I have found the following on Lancashire OnLine Parish Clerk Project (www.lan-opc.org.uk). Coniston and Broughton-in-Furness are both in the Lake District so it may be reasonable to suppose that 'your' John Eccleston and the one mentioned below are one and the same.
