Which Railway Company

I have two ancesters who were working as Railway Guards in 1881. They were living in West Park Street Salford at the time.

With this street been in the area covered by the docks I am not sure if they were working for Lancashire Railway or for a seperate company that was connected to the docks. Where would I find this information.

The two people in question are William Levis and his brother in law Jonathan Peach.

Victoria Manchester would be about a 2 mile walk!
