I have noticed a lot of people asking about Boer War records. The most useful site I have used is the following which does list regiments and casualties etc.;

I have found a reference to my ancestor who was one of the original bodyguards in the Commander In Chief's Bodyguard formed by Lord Roberts in 1900. Lord Roberts recruited Colonials and I am finding it really difficult to access records which may point to when Henry arrived in South Africa, where he lived, who his parents were etc. The only source that I have found is the SA National Archives, and as there are no census records kept in S.A. the journey has lead mostly to "brick walls".

I was wondering if anyone could assist with information about colonials and how to research S.A. family history or immigration from the UK to S.A.
