MARY REVELL born BARLEY HERTFORDSHIRE 1802

Hi everyone
Mary Revell was born 1802 in Barley Hertfordshire to William Revell (Revel) and Sarah . I am having trouble finding Sarah's maiden name . There are many trees on Ancestry that have her as Revell also and born in 1780 ,but that would make her only 9 years old when her first child was born!

Her children are Sarah 1789- Barley
Ellen 1792-Barley
Francis 1797-Barley
William 1799 Barley
Joseph 1805 Barley
Mary 1802 Barley

I would really appreciate any help on this as it's giving me a headache !!!!

I'm not sure how much help this will be Diana, but from Barley Burials 1800-52:

8 December 1805 Joseph REVELL son William & Sarah
18 September 1826 Mary REVELL, aged 28
13 September 1830 Sarah REVILL, aged 67
16 August 1838 William REAVELL, aged 75

Therefore, it looks as though Sarah was born c1763 and William also c1763 both of which would fit in quite well with the baptism of their first child. However, I can't find their marriage at the moment - will look some more.

I'm not sure that William & Sarah married in Hertfordshire at all. I have searched on the Herts Online Marriage Index using just their forenames and a period between 1780 -1800 and there is absolutely nothing that comes up. William looks as if he was baptised at Barkway on 3 July 1763, parents Francis & Rachel - their marriage appears on the Index in 1759, but as for Sarah - zilch. Sorry, this is not helping you much.

Hi again Diana. Doing some Google searches for REVELLs of Barley has brought up a Revell Family Genealogy Forum (http:// genforum.genealogy.com/revell/messages/1079.html) - I don't think this is a commercial site so have posted the web address but if it is, I'm sure the mods will sort it out for me. There is a post on this, plus a reply, in 2005 of someone who is connected to William REVELL son of your William & Sarah at Barley. It might be worth your while joining the Forum and posting a query there as they may have found out some more info since 2005.

thanks Georgie - all this help is great-I've now managed to go back to my gx7 grandparents on the Revell side thanks to the wonderful help I get on this site. And this when I'd all but given up hope of finding any more info!!!!!

Its submitted, but I think its worth a look, because Langley is only just over the county border about 3 or 4 miles from both Barley and Barkway.
